The motorcycle was also spotted on Cedar Street at Newnham shortly after.
Mr Smith said the bike had a custom-made stainless-steel gear rack and had off-road gear put onto it.
The bike is worth about $14,000.
Mr Smith said the theft was frustrating and he'd spent most of Thursday sourcing CCTV footage from nearby businesses.
Anyone with information or footage of the bike should call police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
