The exhibition, named Spinning a Tale for Marjorie Bligh, pays homage to the life of Marjorie Bligh, the queen of the cross-stitch.
Part of this exhibition included a "yarn bombing", which involved the QVMAG walkway at Inveresk being decorated in knitted art.
The exhibition uses donated yarn and other materials from the public.
City of Launceston council creative arts and cultural services director Tracy Puklowski said the project showed the museums ability to bring people together.
"Marjorie Bligh is such an iconic Tasmanian, and what better way to honour her memory than by coming together as a community and supporting her love of re-purposing," she said.
The exhibition will open next month.
