More than 5000 people are expected to visit the bee-themed crop maze at Hagley over the next five weekends.
Rowan and Anna Clark initially decided to create the maze so their three children would have something to play with in the paddocks on their family farm.
Six years later and the maze has become iconic in Northern Tasmania, with many families excitedly awaiting the yearly theme and opening period.
Mr Clark was twice bitten by a bee while the Clarks were trying to decide what to theme this year's maze.
"We thought it has to be bees," Mrs Clark said.
The mini and main mazes are all about bee education, with the game cards setting bee-related challenges.
People are tasked with finding 10 bees in the mini maze, identifying their names and putting them on the game card.
The aim of the main maze is to get the bee back to the honeycomb, with a number of pieces to be found as well as the location of the hive.
"It is good because the kids like to run around the maze and so do the parents," Mrs Clark said.
Entry to the farm is $15 for adults and $10 for children. A family pass which includes two adults and three children is $55.
Marques will also be set up in front of the maze, giving punters time to plan their journey or relax after accomplishing the maze.
Hazelbrae House will be cooking up a storm on site and drinks will also be available for purchase.
