The state government is calling for tenders to construct a new walking trail at Freycinet National Park, despite a development application being not yet approved.

A government spokesman said the process was running concurrently to increase efficiency and avoid delays.
"The tender being awarded is contingent on the development application being approved by council," he said.
The shared track would start at the Ranger Creek day use area and end at the Wineglass Bay trailhead.
The government called for tenders on Saturday, February 23.
