The nominees for the Tasmanian Theatre Awards have been announced, with numerous Launceston productions and performers among those up for accolades.

Encore Theatre Company’s renditions of Les Miserables and The Sound of Music received numerous nominations in the community music theatre categories.
Encore will be looking to bring home the best production award for their profound performance of Les Miserables from March last year.
Brett Budgeon will be doing anything but looking down after his nomination for best male performance as Jean Valjean.
Samantha Hammersley and Ross Marsden [Les Miserables] were nominated for best supporting roles for their portrayels of the conniving Mr and Madame Thenardier.
Di Briffa also received a supporting role nomination for her role in The Sound of Music as the inspirational Mother Abbess, and Belinda King received a nomination for best direction for the musical.
Encore also received nominations in choreography, musical direction, ensemble, lighting and sound design.
Three River Theatre dominated in the community theatre category with their two productions: Killer Joe and Our Town.
Kerri Gay’s performance as the god-like Stage Manager in Our Town earned her a nomination for best female performance.
Jimmy Harrison was nominated for his role as the cowardly Christ Smith in Killer Joe, and Fiontan Cassidy was nominated for his performance in Our Town.
Three Rivers received a plethora of nominations in other categories, including supporting actors and actresses, direction, ensemble, set and costume design, lighting and film as well as sound.
But the nominees will have to wait one day more, with the winners for each award being announced at the celebration dinner at Wrest Point Casino February 23.
