Women’s fashion tips
Manager at Yeltuor Launceston Erin Kirkman said the desirable look for this weekend was effortless, breezy day wear.
“Traditionally the polo dress code consists of light colours and clothing in natural fabrics such as linen, cottons and silks,” she said.
“This season as well as white we are seeing pastel hues in apricot, lilac, lemon and earthy tones in rust and khaki.”
In the way of hats, Ms Kirkman suggested straw and felt, and to coordinate the colour with your shoes and handbag for a classic look.
“For a more unique look, experiment with statement jewellery, bold coloured handbag or shoes,” Ms Kirkman said.
“The polo is a no stiletto zone, espadrilles, wedges and thicker soled heels are ideal.”
Men’s fashion tips
Routley’s Launceston store manager Ben Fontyn said this year’s look for guys was all about being a little more relaxed.
“A little touch of colour, especially for the gents,” he said.
“There’s a lot of simpler jackets and more detailed floral, paisley and very loud colours in shirts.”
For pants Mr Fontyn reckons chinos will be a common sight Saturday, as they come in a number of colours.
Mr Fontyn believes certain short styles are suitable for this event, especially linen shorts.
“Not board shorts, but you can always do linen or seersucker, relaxed cotton fabrics,” he said.
Mr Fontyn said ties or bowties aren’t necessary, however can work with an outfit if done right.
“You’re there to socialise and be relaxed hence the open neck style,” he said.
For hats, Mr Fontyn said a Panama hat is the go-to, and boat shoes or loafers for the feet.
