A deliberately lit fire on Cameron Street in the early Saturday morning is being investigated by Tasmania Police.

About 1am, Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service responded to the report of the fire, which was near a laneway off Wellington Street.
One car was completely destroyed by the fire, with the estimated value about $39,000.
Another car and the rear of a building were damaged.
A total fire ban was in place in all southern and Northern municipalities of the state on Friday due to extreme fire danger.
Anyone who saw someone acting suspiciously in the area, or knows the current location of a red Mitsubishi Lancer with the registration number H88TA, is asked to contact police.
