A Woolworths spokeswoman said the supermarket giant was always looking for ways to improve the shopping experience for its customers.
“Some of our customers told us they would benefit from a quieter ‘low sensory’ shopping environment so we are trialling a program called Quiet Hour in a small selection of stores nationally,” the spokeswoman said.
“We're pleased with the response to date from customers and we'll continue to monitor the feedback as the trials continue.”
The Quiet Hour program is being trialled in a handful of supermarkets across the country including Launceston.
The trial was launched in the central Launceston, on Wellington Street store in October 2018.
The low sensory program is designed to reduce anxiety and sensory stress by providing a quieter environment
Quiet Hour initiatives include reducing noise, lighting and in-store distractions during a one hour period each week.
