Tasmanian roads are expected to be a little busier for the first day of the year, with convoys and crowds leaving the Falls Music and Arts Festival at Marion Bay in the state’s south.

Tasmania Police will be out ensuring everybody gets home safe.
Senior Sergeant Brenda Orr said as with previous years, a large-scale random breath testing operation would take place at the Bream Creek Showground complex.
“Our aim is to get everyone home safely and that includes testing drivers and removing those affected by alcohol and drugs from the roads,” Senior Sergeant Orr said.
“Please, if you’ve consumed alcohol allow enough time for the alcohol to leave your system before you get behind the wheel.”
Prior to leaving the festival, those attending should be mindful of waste being left behind.
Posting to social media, festival organisers urged punters to take all of their belongings with them when leaving on January 1.
