The Dorset Council has provided an update on the Scottsdale Pool redevelopment, which will give the nearly six-decade old pool a facelift.
A rough design has been decided on following a community consultation period, with about 160 community submissions.
There will be a six-lane 25 metre swimming pool, a separate learn-to-swim pool for children, and a wet play area with equipment, shading, and a toddler beach, all free of charge.
Suggestions of an indoor year-round facility, or a hydrotherapy pool, will not be investigated.
The redevelopment will be funded through a $3 million grant from the state government, with the rest provided by council.
The pool will be closed for about 18 months, from March 23 at the end of the upcoming summer season, with a tentative completion date of late 2020.
