It’s great to be able to share some of the experiences that our entrepreneurs are facing in our region,
- Adam Mostogl
The function was held by Illuminative Education, a group focused on developing business education and connections in the community.
Illuminative Education founder Adam Mostogl said the event was a great opportunity for those interested in developing their business ideas in a productive space.
“They’re all getting up and running and it’s really exciting to see the great opportunities that hare happening in Northern Tasmania,” he said.
Joining business owners and innovators was a special guest; United States Charge d’Affaires (interim ambassador) James Carouso, who has served as ambassador to Australia for the last two years.
Ambassador Carouso was excited to discover the ideas business owners had for developing Tasmania’s business interests.
“Two of the guys are involved in the tourism sector, which is clearly growing, they were talking about the appeasement of cruise ships and what they’re going to do when the cruise ships dock,” he said.
“It’s great the idea of getting them out of Hobart and into the countryside taking advantage of that seems like a really good idea.”
This is ambassador Carouso’s second tour in Australia.
He is serving as charge d’affaires after the departure of former ambassador John Berry in 2016 until a new ambassador has been successfully appointed by US President Donald Trump.
A particular area of growth noticed by ambassador Carouso was the increase in diversity in Australia since his first tour.
“You’ve [Australia] become a much more multinational and multicultural society just in the space of 14 years that I was away, it’s really impressive,” Mr Carouso said.
Mostogl said it was great to have such a distinguished guest in Launceston.
“It’s always a great honour to have that in Launceston,” he said.
“It’s great to be able to share some of the experiences that our entrepreneurs are facing in our region, to get a real sense of just what is happening in Northern Tasmania and share those journeys.”
