There will be an official grand opening from mayor of Dorset Greg Howard, as well as music from the Blackouts.
Bridport Primary School students will perform choreography with ribbons and music on the climbing frame.
Co-organiser Debbie Reid said the opening was the result of many community groups coming together.
“We’re all connected, this whole group of community people, to bring this about,” she said.
“The idea of that playground is to make it a holiday destination for kids.
“We want everyone to know about Bridport Playground.”
Festivities will take place from 5 – 9pm, at the playground behind the Visitor Information Centre.
The playground was organised and funded by the Lions Club along with the Dorset Council, and the opening is being put on by Events @ Bridport.
