Jack Harrison Sadler of Riverside appeared via video link in Launceston Supreme Court on Monday.
The 26-year-old has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Mr Anderson-Brettner.
The 24-year-old’s remains were found days after he disappeared on August 15.
Mr Sadler was remanded in custody, with the matter adjourned until February 8.
