Sally’s Ride is organised by the Rotary Club of Central Launceston, will celebrate its 10th year on November 18.
Event co-chairwoman Naomi Walsh said Sally’s Ride was more than a cycling event, but also a fundraiser for mental health services in Northern Tasmania.
“In 2018 we will again be striving to raise money for the local community, for organisations running essential programs in the areas of youth resilience and suicide prevention,” she said.
This month the Rotary club made a $30,000 donation to enable Cornerstone Youth Services to purchase a car that will be used to travel directly to their clients and deliver mental health outreach.
In 2017, 10-kilometre family-friendly circuit that is completely off-road was introduced.
Event co-chairman Alan Harris said following the success of the first family ride time was spent improving the course with safety and fun the priority for 2018.
“This year the course has been updated to include the new pedestrian and cycle bridge, which links Seaport with Riverbend Park,” Mr Harris said.
“Including the new Seaport bridge will allow all riders to safely cross the North Esk river without having to ride over the busy Charles Street bridge and showcases the city of Launceston cycling paths around Inveresk.”
Giant Bicycles Australia and Geard Cycles in Launceston have donated two children’s bikes to be won.
Family ride online entries before Friday at 8pm will go into the draw to win.
Ride distances include 10km, 45km, 70km, 100km or 160km.
