There are 107 properties on the list proposed for sale, 76 of which are churches.
Community submissions on the proposed sale have closed and are being assessed.
Anglican Bishop of Tasmanian, the Right Reverend Dr Richard Condie said the Anglican Diocese received submissions from parishes with respect to 34 properties.
“The Diocese received input from a range of community groups and individuals and we are still working through this information,” Bishop Condie said.
“Diocesan Council meets in December and will make its decision on the list of properties proposed for sale.
“In the weeks following Diocesan Council’s decision parishes and interested parties will be notified of the outcome. When appropriate we will make a public announcement.”
Save Our Community Soul chair and Northern Midlands mayor David Downie said there was inconsistency in the sale process.
“The diocese is working with some communities but not others so there is an inconsistency with that which is only adding to the angst in the community,” Mr Downie said.
“The redress scheme is about trust and people are not happy because it is not clear whether the church can sell them.
“These churches and graveyards are the community’s soul.”
The church wants to use $4.7 million from the sale of its properties to help fund its estimated $8.6 million for the national redress scheme.
