When she returned to the grounds, on Monday October 8, she discovered that seven two-way radios, and the battery out of her campervan, had been stolen. 

The radios had been borrowed for the event from the Northern Tasmanian Fencing Club. 

Ms Carol is appealing for anyone who may know anything about the theft to contact the police. 

“We took it to the police straight away,” she said.

“Mine was pretty well the only vehicle still standing when it happened, I'd gone to take my horses back and when we got back the radios were gone and the battery was gone from under the bonnet.

“You do feel bad when you borrow something and something like this happens. [The fencing club] were so nice about it, but I felt so bad.” 

The Tom Quilty is Australia’s premier endurance horse ride, taking place this year at Jetsonville near Scottsdale. 

Ms Carol said that besides the theft, the ride had been a unmitigated success. 

“It was brilliant, the feedback from people was that they were really really happy with how it was run,” she said. 

“It was just a real nasty little sour note after it had all finished.”

A police spokesperson said that anyone with information should get in contact.

“Launceston Criminal Investigations Branch is investigating the theft of seven two-way radios and a vehicle battery from Jetsonville in north-east Tasmania on Monday October 8 between 2pm-7pm,” they said.

“Anyone with information should contact Launceston CIB on 131444 or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestopperstas.com.au.”
