Five Scotch Oakburn students – and a Harry Potter themed robot named “Harry Botties 2.0” – will pit their robotic skills against the best this weekend.

The students were part of 55 who took the year 4 class at their school, and a team that won the Tasmanian event earlier in the year.
Running for 18 years now, the RoboCup junior Australian national championships, feature everything from onstage robots like the Scotch Oakburn team, to rescue and soccer models.
Georgette Wilks, 10, said the learning process had been her favourite part.
“I think all the mistakes and problem solving.
“So if something went wrong, you try to figure out what happened and how to fix it.”
On the idea behind their robot, she said it just made sense.
“We were brainstorming and one of our team members said she had a really good Hermione voice.”
There are over 600 students from 83 schools nationally and from South Korea and China attending.
