“Launceston is currently experiencing an exciting period of economic optimism,” Mr Grose said.
“Aldermen elected at the upcoming election will oversee what should be one of the most vibrant economic periods in this city’s existence.”
The public forum will be moderated and will be the public’s chance to see their mayoral candidates up close.
“The Chamber is firmly of the view that Launceston’s economic potential should be fully realised through a proactive council with a firm business-centred focus,” Mr Grose said.
“Key examples of this city’s potential are developments such as the Silo Hotel, but also the planned relocation of UTAS to Inveresk through the City Deal, new hotels, the potential for a new private hospital to be co-located with the LGH, and a new Northern prison, all pointing to a bright future.”
Mr Grose said the Chamber believed Launceston needed a council who had a positive vision to take the city to the next level.
“The Chamber aspires to see Launceston as one of the great regional cities in the world and the next elected council have a unique opportunity to move Launceston closer to this goal,” he said.
