The school took part in Fiver for a Farmer.
The school’s advanced skills teacher Janine Spicer said the idea stemmed from one of its pupils.
“It started with our student, Ella Leonard, who had been talking about the drought with her family and she approached senior staff to ask if we could do something at the school we said ‘yes’,” Ms Spicer said.
She said about 90 per cent of the students had dressed up.
“We normally get lots of gold coin donations, but all the buckets that I’ve seen from the classrooms this morning have had $5 and $10 notes.”
The raised more than $400.
The school’s canteen manager has also taken orders for Parma for a Farmer burgers for lunch and will donate $1 per burger.
Some of the classes at the school had been talking about the drought, with Ms Spicer’s grade 1 class watching videos.
“Some of the students were shocked that people about the same age of them had never seen rain.”
On Monday, a lamb was also brought to the school for a visit, and it received a lot of attention from the budding farmers.
