Now in its third year, the comedy extravaganza will feature headline sets from Sam Simmons (Problems, Triple J, The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala), Judith Lucy (The Late Show, Agony Aunts, Spicks and Specks, The Project, Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala), and purple puppet Randy (Ricketts Lane, Spicks and Specks, The Project, Comedy Up Late, Chaser's Media Circus, The Weekly).
The Gala will also feature the winner of the 2018 Logie for Most Popular New Talent, Sri-Lankan born Dilruk Jayasinha (Have You Been Paying Attention?, Utopia, The Project), and award winning Canadian born comic, Gillian English.
RELATED STORIES:
Fresh Comedy producer Stewart Bell said it was the gala’s “strongest line-up to date”.
“All three headliners are world-renowned acts with multiple awards and TV credits to their names,” he said.
“We’re really fortunate that Launceston has such wonderful comedy fans.
“They are very loyal, comedy savvy, and trust in the headliners that we bring to the state,”
The gala will again showcase several Tasmanian acts, including Dylan Hesp, who recently starred in the ABC comedy hit, Sando.
Bell said it was important to foster talent in the state.
“We want to build the comedy scene here in Tasmania and showcasing Tasmanian talent is an important part of that,” he said.
“The local comedy scene is in a healthy position, with about two-thirds of acting roles in season three of Rosehaven performed by local actors and comedians.”
The 2018 Fresh Comedy Gala will be held on Friday, October 5 at the Tramsheds Function Centre. Tickets are available from trybooking.com/XCHS
