Launceston’s Enterprize innovation hub will form part of the global Moonhack event this week, with families invited to log on for a unique lunar experience.
Held to commemorate the Apollo 11 moon landing, Moonhack is a world-record attempt to have the most people aged eight to 18 coding simultaneously.
Participants have the choice of completing one of the projects on the Moonhack site or working on their own coding task.

Launceston Moonhack coordinator Bridgette Kaminski said previous coding experience was not required for the session.
“Anyone is welcome to show up on the day,” Ms Kaminski said.
“There are projects for people who may be new to coding, and others that are more suitable for those who have done it previously.
“It’s a family event, so it would be great to have parents and guardians getting involved and supporting children as they work through the program.”
Organised through Code Club Australia, Moonhack began in 2016.
Launceston held its first Moonhack event in 2017.
It is another opportunity for hackers of all ages to work out of Enterprize, which also hosts the Family Code Club program.
Resuming in August, the initiative is designed to teach children and their parents more about coding through regular sessions.
- Moonhack will be held at Enterprize from 4.30pm on Friday, July 20. Participants are required to bring their own laptop. For more information visit Enterprize on Facebook.
