The initiative would see the state accelerate its transition to clean energy sources, while also exporting more energy to the mainland.
It would include the development of 14 pumped hydro storage sites.
The locations of the sessions – Cressy, Bothwell, Rosebery, Queenstown, Sheffield and Lorinna – are located nearby the 14 potential sites.
Battery of the Nation director Chris Gwynne said the project would create billions of dollars of investment in Tasmania and create thousands of jobs over the next 15 years.
“Doubling our clean energy capacity will help us meet our own power needs, keep prices as low as possible, and support mainland Australia as it transitions off coal power,” Battery of the Nation director Chris Gwynne said.
“We’re very keen to hear the views of locals, provide more detail about pumped hydro and answer questions.”
The Battery of the Nation project is a part of a push by the state government for Tasmania to be 100 per cent self-sufficient through renewable energy by 2022.
