The Hazelwood Parade home was vacant at the time of the incident.
Tasmania Police Inspector Gary Williams said investigations were still continuing.
“There is no doubt that the arson at Hazelwood Parade is something we take very seriously and we will conduct all our investigations,” he said.
“We are still awaiting the results of the Tas Fire examination, but we’re reasonably certain this is suspicious at this stage.”
Tasmania Fire Service were called to the property about 7.30pm, with crews back on site conducting investigations this morning.
“We don’t have any suspects at the moment, but we do have a number of witnesses that we’re interviewing,” Inspector Williams said.
The privately-owned property has been vacant for a number of weeks.
The expected damage bill is unknown at this time.
