The park was turned into a “festival hub” with activities for children and food and wine stalls.
Festival director Wayne Larden said having a hub created a good atmosphere for the event.
“We find that if people come to an event and have a good time, then we get more the next year,” he said.
Hundreds collected their race kits, and many signed up for the three events.
“We’re at around 1500 entries. So we’re right on race record,” Mr Larden said.
“Our interstate entries are up 15 per cent. That’s important for the city and the state.”
Road closures will be in place on Tamar, Cameron and St John streets from 7am until 1pm, as well as Lower Charles Street and parts of the East Tamar Highway.
Registrations for the Tasmanian Running Festival will also be open on Sunday.
