More than $1000 was raised for Speak Up! Stay ChatTY from the night, which included everything from a door raffle to a lip sync battle.
It was the third drag event from organiser and performer Hayden Lyons, who has previously raised funds for Beyond Blue and City Mission.
The 21-year-old plans to move to Melbourne in July, meaning Saturday was likely his final performance on the Club 54 stage. Lyons said it was great to go out on a high.
“It was an amazing night overall,” he said.
“Given I am preparing to leave Tasmania, it was really good to see how happy these events make people.”
It was more than a year ago when Lyons approached Club 54 owner Michelle Roberts about the concept.
The format now appears here to stay, with others ready to fill the void left by the young drag queen.
Ms Roberts said it had become so much more than just a night out.
“I think it is something that Launceston needs,” she said.
“There isn’t a lot of places here where the LGTBI community can come together and enjoy that sort of atmosphere.
“A couple of people actually commented on the night that they enjoy these events because it gets them out of the house.
“They said they feel safe here.”
Speak Up! Stay ChatTY is a registered not-for-profit that works to promote positive mental health.
