The Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania awards will be held on November 9, with all 25 winners automatically entered into the 2019 Australian Tourism Awards.
Next year’s Australian Tourism Awards will be held at the Cataract Gorge.
TICT chief executive Luke Martin said he was “a little concerned” there would be few Northern Tasmanian entrants at the national awards.
“We’re really encouraging Northern Tasmanian operators who haven’t entered the [state] awards in a while, or have never entered at all, to have a go,” he said.
“It’s fair to say that the south and the east are dominant for the state awards, but we want to make sure the [northern] region really puts its best foot forward.
“There’s lot of enthusiasm about having the national awards ceremony in Launceston and it’s a game changing opportunity for operators to showcase the region.”
Nominations close for the Tasmanian Tourism Awards on May 30.
