Race director Wayne Larden and Launceston mayor Albert van Zetten officially opened the festival at Launceston’s iconic City Park on Wednesday.
Mr Larden said he felt the festival would grow bigger this year, with more interstate visitors expected to visit the city than previous years.
“We’re up on entries,” he said. “Interstate numbers are 400 per cent up on last year.”
City Park will play host to the weekend festival, which will feature Tasmanian food and beverages and entertainment from June 2.
The Tasmanian Running Festival will begin June 3.
Entries are now open. Participants can register online at www.tasmanianrunningfestival.com.au.
