The Launceston band were joined by piano legend Bruce Gourlay for the performance, which drew a strong crowd.
Jazzamatazz saxophonist Damon Warner said it was an honour to share the stage with the 82-year-old.
“He’s always been there as a staple throughout the time I’ve been playing,” he said.
“He’s fantastic to watch.”
Warner is no stranger to The Royal Oak, having played his first gig at the bar when he was 14. Now 39, he is part of the ever-changing Jazzamatazz lineup, which rotates members in order to “keep each gig different.”
Monday’s concert was organised through the Launceston Jazz Club, which stages monthly performances and jam sessions at the venue.
President Karen Burke said the performances had built up a loyal following within the community.
“Of the crowd we get, about three quarters have been before, but there are always some new faces,” she said.
