The Local Government Association of Tasmania has reappointed chief executive Katrena Stephenson for a further five years.
The state government has so far failed in its attempts to take over council-owned TasWater, but made clear during the election campaign it remained policy.
Dr Stephenson said local government’s challenges included resolving the ”stand-off” on water and sewerage, continued implementation of planning reforms, attracting skilled council candidates and expanding the efficiency and savings from LGAT’s procurement measures.
