The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting light rain across Tasmania on Wednesday morning, with rain increasing in the afternoon as a cold front passes.
A maximum of eight millimetres of rain is predicted for Launceston.
Light northerly winds are expected to reach a maximum of 30 km/h in the morning, before becoming north-westerly in the afternoon, reaching a maximum of 35 km/h.
The UV Index was expected to reach nine, which is “very high”. Launceston Cup punters should wear sun protection from 9.40am to 4.50pm.
The bureau has predicted Wednesday will reach a maximum of 24 degrees.
