A new partnership between a re-elected Liberal government and the state’s peak business bodies has been proposed to “ensure our objectives and policies are aligned”.
B21 (Business 21st Century) would team a Liberal government with the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Tasmanian Small Business Council.
The partnership would produce a business growth strategy for the state for the next five years, with assistance from local chambers of commerce, peak industry bodies and various other organisations.
Premier Will Hodgman said the Liberals also planned to create a new position of small business advocate within the Coordinator-General’s office “to assist small businesses to resolve disputes with larger businesses, state government bodies and local councils”.
TSBC chairman Geoff Fader said these moves would “ensure industry and government can work together to make the economic potential of Tasmania a reality”.
