About 12.30am on Wednesday emergency service crews attended the intersection of Naroo Street and the Tasman Highway at Waverley. Crews located a man, aged 30 to 40, with serious head injuries, including numerous face fractures and abrasions to his body.
The victim was transported by Ambulance Tasmania to the Intensive Care Unit at the Launceston General Hospital. The man was believed to be in a serious but non-life threatening condition.
Despite police inquiries around Waverley, officers were unable to identify the victim or determine the events which led to him being found by emergency service workers.
The victim is described as Caucasian with fair skin, about 175cm to 179cm tall, auburn receding-hair and medium build. He has no facial hair and has very thin, manicured eyebrows. When emergency services found the man, he was wearing jeans, a black tank-top and he was barefoot.
Police are calling on the public to help identify the victim and for information about what has happened to him. If you have information that can help police, contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Tasmania Police on 131 444.
