Dunlop signs sells for $16,000 at Armitage Auctions on Saturday

The items came from two main vendors, auctioneer Neil O’Brien said. 

“One gentleman – about 70 per cent of items – [were] from him … but he decided it was a good time to sell his collection,” Mr O’Brien said. 

“Some of the signs date back to the 1930s or 40s, but most of them are about 40s and 50s period.” 

An enamel Dunlop Tyres sign sold for $16,000, which Mr O’Brien said was one of the highest selling items of the day.

“The collectors of these types of signs love the original condition. These ones are untouched basically,” he said. 

Buyers came from interstate and Hobart.
