Launceston Carols by Candlelight will once again spread Christmas cheer on Sunday with song, dance and Santa at City Park.
Carols coordinator Danny Gibson said the event brought the community together and supported The Examiner’s Empty Stocking Appeal to bring some festive cheer to families in need.
The Rotary Club of Tamar Sunrise-run event raised about $50,000 in the five years the club has been running the carols, Mr Gibson said.
He hoped they could raise up to $20,000 at the carols this year.
Launceston dancers Connor O’Sign, 14, and Caitlin Smith, 12, were asked to start shining up their dance shoes about two weeks ago.
They will be performing a jazzy tune for the Launceston Carols on Sunday.
O’Sign started performing when he was a toddler and now performs jazz, tap, neo, ballet and hip hop.
He has performed in three other carols.
For all the first time performers, he suggested creating a bit of a routine could help with nerves, O’Sign said.
“Everyone has a different way of getting ready … find the best way to prepare yourself and have fun.”
They were both excited to take to the stage at the carols in City Park.
City Park closes at 3pm for the Carols by Candlelight set-up before reopening at 5pm for a 7pm start.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children, with food, drinks and glowing Christmas merchandise available at the park.
Mr Gibson wanted to thank presenting partners VOS and One Agency Launceston as well as carol sponsors for helping bring Christmas cheer to Northern Tasmania.
