The week leading to the festivities is expected to bring sunshine to Launceston, with just one day expected to fall below 25 degrees. On Monday and Tuesday the temperature is expected to reach 28 degrees.
UV forecasts for the next four days are predicted to be extreme.
The Bureau of Meteorology said sun protection was recommended from 8:50am until 5:10pm.
Despite December 19 having a 40 per cent chance of rain, it is the only day for the next week that rain is forecast. Friday is expected to be the coldest morning this week, with temperatures expected to drop to 10 degrees.
The BOM said the full Christmas weather outlook would be released on December 18.
On Wednesday, Launceston’s temperature peaked at 26, and is expected to be 27 degrees on Thursday.
Campania, Hobart, Ouse and Flinders Island all reached 27 degrees on Wednesday.
