Police allege an officer was forced to fire his gun when the youth drove a stolen car at him at Blackmans Bay on Saturday.
The 17-year-old was charged on Monday with assaulting police, dangerous driving, evading police, driving while disqualified, motor vehicle stealing and committing an unlawful act intended to cause bodily harm.
The youth was also taken to hospital but was in a stable condition on Monday afternoon.
He is expected to appear in a special bedside court sitting at a later date.
