More than 20 candidates from the north of the state are through to the semi-finals of the awards, with the next judging round taking place on October 5.

The candidates for the health achievement award include Just Like Jack, Royal Flying Doctor Service Tasmania, Epilepsy Tasmania and Healthy Tasmania.

Sprout Tasmania, Rural Youth Tasmania – Agfest Organising Committee, The Kooparoona Niara Cultural Trail and Rural Business Tasmania are all in the running to become finalists in the community group of the year award.

The winners will be announced on December 1.

The awards began in 2007 to recognise groups, businesses and individuals making a difference in their communities and across the state and provide an opportunity to acknowledge their hard work and impact on the lives of others.
