Black spot funding is allocated by the Department of State Growth to projects that comply with the federal government's criteria, which includes at least three crashes resulting in injury at an intersection or in a short length of road over a five year period.
One key spot is Alanvale Road and side streets Snow Street, Mallard Place and Franmaree Road, where central islands, line marking and speed limit changes have been proposed.
The other is Henry Street at Ravenswood, where the number of injury crashes has increased from an average of one per year to over three per year in the last five years.
Skid resistant surfacing and median treatment is proposed. Seventeen injury crashes occurred on the semi-rural road within five years, 15 involved vehicles leaving the road on bends in wet conditions.
