The festival that values vast vegetables will return to the North-East next month when the Friends of St Pauls Springfield holds its annual harvest festival.

Held in the church grounds from 11am on April 1, the festival will award prizes for the curliest zucchini and the biggest pumpkin and carrot, and will also include a scarecrow decorating competition.
Tea, coffee and barbecue food will be served from noon and will be followed by the blessing of the harvest at 1pm and a cake, preserve and produce auction at 1.30pm.
Those wishing to make donations to the auction can drop off items at 76 King Street, Scottsdale.
