The development included four new science laboratories, nine learning studios, and collaborative spaces for students.
A large focus of the project was to ensure maximum natural light and a connection with the outside environment, as well as creating a flow-on design, joining the laboratories and the classrooms with windows between them.
“The students appreciate being able to learn in a comfortable environment,” Scotch Oakburn’s head of science Trevor Marson said.
“They have more room, adequate space, lots of light and the technology is really state-of-the-art.”
One of the design elements of the new laboratories included spaces where students would stand to conduct experiments, instead of sitting, which was intended to get them used to the set up at university and in the workforce.
There was a little more work to be done during the construction phase, but the entire development was expected to be complete within the next two months.
