Tasmania Police was notified of an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon activation in the Leven Canyon vicinity by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority at 11.45am on Saturday. The Westpac helicopter was deployed to the scene to collect the injured man. He was part of a group of eight experienced bushwalkers from Victoria, Tasmania Police said.
