Nicola Sallese was last seen driving through Sheffield on November 17, 2008.
Since his disappearance, relatives have not heard from the father of two.
The 69-year-old was driving a silver Toyota Camry sedan, which has never been located.
Hoping for closure, his son Jason Sallese launched an online fundraising page this week to help the family distribute signage and stickers across the state.
“It feels weird asking for money, but the support from the public has always been huge, we have been so lucky,” he said.
“The more people that know about Dad, the higher the chances someone might see or find something.”
Mr Sallese, who was 39 when his father went missing, said life would never be the same for his family.
“Not being able to pick up the phone and have a chat with Dad and not being able to drop in for a visit, and for my kids and my brother Nick's kids not having him around is very sad,” Mr Sallese said.
“There is always hope of finding Dad, but after nearly eight years, you need to be a little realistic about finding him alive.
“If Dad was alive he would do all he could to get back to his family.”
