Twice past president and life member Max Dane said in the club’s first five years it went from strength to strength, winning five consecutive Northern and State premierships.
“The club has now collectively won 67 premierships and last year last year topped it off by winning the three top divisions,” Mr Dane said.
In 1980, The Examiner reporter Ian McPherson labelled the bowls club the “hustlers on the hill”, after winning six consecutive division flags.
The club’s inaugural meeting was held on August 19, 1966, and Launceston solicitor Doctor Roland Tyson was elected as club president.
On August 14, the club welcomes the Launceston community to join them in celebrating their colourful and highly accomplished half century with finger food and drinks being served at the Trevallyn Bowls Club.
Anyone wishing to attend the event should RSVP to 6331 2070.
