With the encouragement of family and friends, the St Helens great-grandmother began experimenting with coloured oil pastel etchings four years ago and has since developed a style rich in colour, patterns and Indigenous symbols.
Bay of Fires Art Prize committee member Carol Rollason said Vox’s piece perfectly captured the prize’s theme of “our island inheritance”.
“It is always fantastic to see several emerging artists selected as finalists,” Ms Rollason said.
“This year there will be 32 2D works and three 3D works with a great mix of names and previous prize winners like Helene Weeding, Josh Foley, Paul Snell, Diane Masters and a number of emerging artists like Rissah and Sam Field.”
The exhibition will run from June 11 until July 2.
