Anthony Robert Tuck, 49, previously told the Launceston Magistrates Court that he had been "hanging out for a drink" since entering custody in January.
The Launceston man's theft victims included Harvey Norman, the Pizza Pub, Jailhouse Grill, Autobarn, BWS Legana, IGA Prospect, Cash Converters, Chemist Warehouse, Nubco, Myer, Tamar Marine, Coles and Target.
Tuck stole goods including a vacuum-cleaner, guitars, alcohol, food, tools, toys, beauty and medical items, a coffee machine and steam mop.
Today, magistrate Sharon Cure noted a pre-sentence report which stated that Tuck had been "completely disinhibited by alcohol" when he committed his crimes.
Ms Cure jailed Tuck for six months, backdated to January 30, with three months suspended for 18 months.
Tuck must also complete an 18-month probation order upon release.
"Thanks very much," Tuck said to the court before he was returned to custody.
Earlier this month, Tuck pleaded guilty to 35 offences, including 18 counts of stealing, eight counts of having obtained goods by false pretences, and six driving offences.
Among other crimes, Tuck stole $2035 cash from a cash register in the TRC Hotel, Launceston, on August 10, 2014, and a shop worker’s handbag on August 28, 2014, making eight "payWave" transactions under $100 each on the woman’s CBA card.
The estimated value of property Tuck stole or obtained illegally exceeded $10,000.
