The club will host its competition at Lake King William during the long weekend, according to president Ron Denne.
Mr Denne said the club was focused on providing a family friendly environment and often saw groups camped out by the water as part of the annual event.
"When we get out there we'll find somewhere to camp, usually quite a number of people stay up there, but you'll also get those who come and fish for the day," he said.
"There are lots of prizes for categories like the biggest fish, most caught, a secret weight prize, lots of things like that will be happening."
He said the event was part of an extensive roster, including open rivers and open lakes competitions.
"They can go anywhere and record their catch," Mr Denne said.
"Woods Lake and Great Lake have been good and Arthurs Lake is picking up, they've been a bit small there, but it's getting better.
"All of the rivers do well, except for the South Esk, which is probably not as good as it used to be.
"Meander, Brumbys Creek, Macquarie — if you spend enough time in them you'll catch your nice fish."
He said their 120-strong membership was made up of people not necessarily living in Longford, including residents of Campbell Town and George Town.
