IF THEO Bakker (Letters, November 21) checked a few more scientists claims, rather than cherry picking those that suit his ideology, he would find more than one agree the earth has not warmed by any recordable amount for 16 years.

As for the heat hiding in the deep oceans, NASA scientists have found no temperature change in the last nine years.
If you want to quote predictions, I can remember claims it would never rain in Victoria again and even if it did the rain would evaporate before reaching the ground.
Result, a mothballed desalination plant costing the state $1.8 million per day just to maintain.
Another claimed the Maldives would be underwater by 2010. Result, they are still taking tourist bookings.
Yes, we need to stop polluting the planet, but climate change is a continuing cycle, it is only 40,000 years since we came out of an ice age (a blink of the eye in geological terms), who caused the warming then?
