Two new stores, the Caffeine Surfer and Orphic Art2Wear, have opened their doors this month, breathing new life into the town's dwindling central business district.
The Caffeine Surfer provides quality coffee and retro surfboards for those looking to escape to Tasmania's East Coast, while Orphic Art2Wear offers a unique art-inspired clothing range.
The Caffeine Surfer owner Timothy Warren said it was time for local businesses to turn their own luck around.
"The businesses in St Marys need to band together and speak as one," he said.
"With the proposed new streetscape happening soon, St Marys hopefully will not only act the part, but look the part as well."
Orphic Art2Wear owner Sherryn Woodward believes the demand for her work is growing before the tourist season.
"During the first months Orphic Art2Wear has had garments purchased to Sydney, Glouster, Newcastle, Belmont and an exhibited poncho Snow Flake went to Canada in the last five minutes of closing," she said.
"It appears the demand has warranted the exercise of a permanent small working studio business in St Marys to join alongside the other working studios blossoming in this very creative valley."
Both new businesses are located on the Esk Highway.
