The creation is the second incarnation of a brainwave  had by Embroiderers Guild of Tasmania president Mary Nye more than 35 years ago and will be donated to the Launceston General Hospital’s children’s ward.

‘‘I made a cubby house for my daughters 35 years ago and the idea just came up to do it for charity,’’ Mrs Nye said.

‘‘So we made another one that the embroiderers could embroider on.’’

She said the original hut was now in use by her grandchildren and would be one of many threaded creations on display at next week’s Embroidery Exhibition at the Punchbowl Centre.

‘‘It’s going to be a lovely big exhibition, we’ve got the banner from the Holy Trinity Church going up that we also embroidered, there will be many exhibits from all the members,’’ Mrs Nye said.

Styles including crewel, gold-pulled thread, freestyle, Wessex and more will be on on display — a showcase of works completed from during the past two years.

The exhibition will run from 10am to 4.30pm from Wednesday, October 1, to Friday, October 3, and from 10am to 4pm on Saturday.
