WE ARE constantly reminded by Tasmania Police, quite rightly, that drink-driving is an offence that will not and should not be tolerated.

My 19-year-old son, who is on his P2 licence, will never risk driving if he has had anything alcoholic to drink.
To this extent on Monday after enjoying some celebratory drinks over the weekend he had need to drive from Longford to Launceston.
Unsure if he still had alcohol in his system his mother rang the local police station and asked if there were any facilities to check his blood alcohol level rather than consider taking a risk.
The response was very disappointing to say the least.
